AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 2.25 ACRES IN KAUPO, HANA, MAUI, HAWAII, AND THE GRANT OF A LEASE TO KAUPO COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION, INC. (PEA-66)
Description
The Committee is in receipt of the following:
1. County Communication 18-98, from the Director of Finance, transmitting the following:
a. A proposed resolution authorizing acceptance of Executive Order 4544 transferring management of approximately 2.25 acres in Kaupo, Hana, Maui, Hawaii, for community center purposes.
b. A proposed resolution authorizing a grant of a 55-year lease of approximately 2.25 acres in Kaupo, Hana, Maui, Hawaii, to the Kaupo Community Association, for use as a community resource center and emergency shelter, and other activities promoting services for the community.
2. Correspondence dated March 13, 2018, from the Director of Finance, transmitting the following:
a. A revised proposed resolution entitled “AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF AN EXECUTIVE ORDER TRANSFERRING MANAGEMENT OF APPROXIMATELY 2.25 ACRES AT KAUPO, HANA, MAUI, HAWAII FOR COMMUNITY CENTER PURPOSES.” The purpose of the revised proposed resolution is to authorize the County to accept the control and management from the State of real property, identified for real property tax purposes as tax map key (2) 1-7-002:015, consisting of approximately 2.25 acres, in Kaupo, Hana, Maui, Hawaii, for public purposes, including use as a community center and ancillary purposes, pursuant to Executive Order 4544.
b. A revised proposed resolution entitled “AUTHORIZING A GRANT OF A LEASE OF COUNTY REAL PROPERTY TO KAUPO COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION, INC.” The purpose of the revised proposed resolution is to authorize a grant of a 55-year lease of real property, identified for real property tax purposes as tax map key (2) 1-7-002:015, consisting of approximately 2.25 acres, in Kaupo, Hana, Maui, Hawaii, to the Kaupo Community Association, Inc., for use as a community resource center and emergency shelter, and other activities promoting services for the community. The property has a fair market rental value of $31,041 per year and would be leased by the County for $1 per year.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend adoption of the revised proposed resolutions, with or without further revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of County Communication 18-98 and other related action.
