BILLS 70 (2026) AND 80 (2026), RELATING TO THE HĀLAU OF ‘ŌIWI ARTS (BFED-57)
Description
The Committee is in receipt of the following:
1. Bill 70 (2026), entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2026 BUDGET, INCREASING ESTIMATED REVENUES, BOND/LAPSED BOND BY $4,000,000, CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS, DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT, WAILUKU-KAHULUI COMMUNITY PLAN AREA, NEW APPROPRIATION FOR HĀLAU OF ʻŌIWI ARTS FOR $4,000,000, AND APPENDIX C, DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT, WAILUKU-KAHULUI COMMUNITY PLAN AREA, NEW APPROPRIATION FOR HĀLAU OF ʻŌIWI ARTS FOR $4,000,000.” Bill 70’s purpose is to amend the FY 2026 Budget by:
a. Amending Section 2, Estimated Revenues, by increasing Bond/Lapsed Bond by $4,000,000;
b. Amending Section 4.D.2.a.(1), Department of Management, Wailuku-Kahului Community Plan Area, Government Facilities, Bond Fund, by adding a new project entitled “Hālau of ʻŌiwi Arts” in the amount of $4,000,000;
c. Adjusting the totals accordingly; and
d. Amending Appendix C - Capital Improvement Projects, Department of Management, Wailuku-Kahului Community Plan Area, by adding a project and project description for Hālau of ʻŌiwi Arts in the amount of $4,000,000.
2. Bill 80 (2026), entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 5818 (2025), RELATING TO THE ISSUANCE OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI ISSUANCE, SALE AND DELIVERY OF SAID BONDS (DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT).” Bill 80’s purpose is to amend the Fiscal Year 2026 general obligation bond authorization ordinance by adding an appropriation for the Department of Management, Wailuku-Kahului Community Plan Area, Government Facilities, entitled “Hālau of ʻŌiwi Arts,” in the amount of $4,000,000, and adjusting the total accordingly.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of Bill 70 (2026) and Bill 80 (2026) on first reading, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of Bill 70 (2026) and Bill 80 (2026) and other related action.
