KAHULUI COMMUNITY CENTER PARK AND SURROUNDING AREA MASTER PLAN (PRL-10)
Description
The Committee is in receipt of the following:
1. County Communication 17-361, from the Mayor, relating to Hale Makua Health Services’ interest in entering into a long-term lease agreement with the County for a portion of the Kahului Community Center Park.
2. Correspondence dated March 2, 2018, from the Mayor, transmitting a proposed resolution to grant a 75-year lease to Hale Makua Health Services, for the 34.082 acres identified for real property tax purposes as tax map key (2) 3-8-007:097 and known as the Kahului Community Center Park, Kahului, Maui, Hawaii.
3. Correspondence dated August 7, 2018, from the Department of the Corporation Counsel, transmitting the following:
a. A revised proposed resolution entitled “AUTHORIZING A GRANT OF A LEASE OF COUNTY REAL PROPERTY TO HALE MAKUA HEALTH SERVICES.” The purpose of the revised proposed resolution is to grant a 75-year lease to Hale Makua Health Services, for two contiguous portions of land within the Kahului Community Center Park, Kahului, Maui, Hawaii, comprising a total of 7.401 acres and identified for real property tax purposes as portions of tax map key (2) 3-8-007:097, to establish a holistically planned senior community and related facilities.
b. A proposed resolution entitled “URGING THE MAYOR OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI TO DEVELOP A MASTER PLAN FOR TAX MAP KEY (2) 3-8-007:097, IN COORDINATION WITH HALE MAKUA HEALTH SERVICES, TO PROVIDE HEALTH CARE FACILITIES, SERVICES, AND PROGRAMS FOR THE ELDERLY POPULATION OF THE COUNTY.” The purpose of the proposed resolution is to urge the Mayor to develop a master plan for the entire 34.082-acre parcel identified for real property tax purposes as tax map key (2) 3-8-007:097, in coordination with Hale Makua Health Services, to provide health care facilities, services, and programs for the elderly population of the County.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend adoption of the revised proposed resolution noted in paragraph 3(a) and the proposed resolution noted in paragraph 3(b), with or without further revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of County Communication 17-361 and other related action.
