RESOLUTIONS 26-18 THROUGH 26-37, NOMINATIONS TO VARIOUS BOARDS, COMMITTEES, AND COMMISSIONS  (GREAT-2(9))

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of correspondence from the Mayor, dated January 29, 2026, and received on January 30, 2026, transmitting the following:

1.                     Resolution 26-18, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATIONS OF WENDY HORNACK AND JAMES RENSBERGER TO THE ANIMAL CONTROL BOARD,” with completed applications for the nominees.  Resolution 26-18’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nominations of Wendy Hornack and James Rensberger to the Animal Control Board for terms beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2029.

2.                     Resolution 26-19, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATIONS OF BRYAN MUN WAI TANAKA AND JOHN ANSON HAUOLI TOMOSO TO THE BOARD OF ETHICS,” with completed applications for the nominees.  Resolution 26-19’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nominations of Bryan Mun Wai Tanaka and John Anson Hauoli Tomoso to the Board of Ethics for terms beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

3.                     Resolution 26-20, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATION OF SARAH FREISTAT PAJIMOLA TO THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION,” with a completed application for the nominee.  Resolution 26-20’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nomination of Sarah Freistat Pajimola to the Civil Service Commission for a term beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

4.                     Resolution 26-21, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATIONS OF CAYLA RAE KUTAKA AND CATHERINE MOMI MEDEIROS TO THE COMMISSION ON CHILDREN AND YOUTH,” with completed applications for the nominees.  Resolution 26-21’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nominations of Cayla Rae Kutaka and Catherine Momi Medeiros to the Commission on Children and Youth for terms beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

5.                     Resolution 26-22, entitled “APPROVING THE NOMINATION OF MICHELLE LYNNE GOULD TO THE CONSERVATION PLANNING COMMITTEE,” with a completed application for the nominee. Resolution 26-22’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nomination of Michelle Lynne Gould to the Conservation Planning Committee for a term beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2029.

6.                     Resolution 26-23, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATIONS OF CRYSTALNANI LEHUA PARK, HEATHER RUTH-DURHAM, KINGDON PAUL VAN NOSTRAND, CORAZON D. BAYLE COX, AND MONICA REBELLA TO THE COUNCIL ON AGING,” with completed applications for the nominees.  Resolution 26-23’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nominations of Crystalnani Lehua Park, Heather Ruth-Durham, Kingdon Paul Van Nostrand, Corazon D. Bayle Cox, and Monica Rebella to the Council on Aging for terms beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

7.                     Resolution 26-24, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATION OF DARRYL PEREBOROW TO THE FIRE AND PUBLIC SAFETY COMMISSION,” with a completed application for the nominee.  Resolution 26-24’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nomination of Darryl Pereborow to the Fire and Public Safety Commission for a term beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

8.                     Resolution 26-25, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATION OF WILLIAM MIDWOOD CURTIS, JR. TO THE HOUSING ADVISORY BOARD FOR THE COUNTY OF MAUI,” with a completed application for the nominee.  Resolution 26-25’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nomination of William Midwood Curtis, Jr. to the Housing Advisory Board for a term beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

9.                     Resolution 26-26, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATIONS OF DWIGHT BURNS, SETSUKO REGINA GORMLEY, AND CHAD VIELA TO THE INDEPENDENT NOMINATION BOARD,” with completed applications for the nominees.  Resolution 26-26’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nominations of Dwight Burns, Setsuko Regina Gormley, and Chad Viela to the Independent Nomination Board for terms beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

10.                     Resolution 26-27, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATION OF DAVID ALBERT LEON TO THE LANAI PLANNING COMMISSION,” with a completed application for the nominee.  Resolution 26-27’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nomination of David Albert Leon to the Lānaʻi Planning Commission for a term beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

11.                     Resolution 26-28, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATIONS OF DUSTIN HAROLD POMAIKAILANI KALEIOPU AND HEATHER AMY STEPHENS TO THE LIQUOR CONTROL ADJUDICATION BOARD,” with completed applications for the nominees.  Resolution 26-28’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nominations of Dustin Harold Pomaikailani Kaleiopu and Heather Amy Stephens to the Liquor Control Adjudication Board for terms beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

12.                     Resolution 26-29, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATIONS OF CHRISTINE KAHEALANI SILVA AND LAURENCE FRANKLIN STEVENS TO THE LIQUOR CONTROL COMMISSION,” with completed applications for the nominees.  Resolution 26-29’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nominations of Christine Kahealani Silva and Laurence Franklin Stevens to the Liquor Control Commission for terms beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

13.                     Resolution 26-30, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATIONS OF LINDA PUPPOLO AND FRANK BARBOSA, JR. TO THE MAUI COUNTY COMMISSION ON PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES,” with completed applications for the nominees.  Resolution 26-30’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nominations of Linda Puppolo and Frank Barbosa, Jr. to the Maui County Commission on Persons with Disabilities for terms beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

14.                     Resolution 26-31, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATION OF MIRIAM ANUHEA KAMAKANAOKEALOHA HOKOANA ARAKAWA TO THE MAUI COUNTY CULTURAL RESOURCES COMMISSION,” with a completed application for the nominee.  Resolution 26-31’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nomination of Miriam Anuhea Kamakanaokealoha Hokoana Arakawa to the Maui County Cultural Resources Commission for a term beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

15.                     Resolution 26-32, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATIONS OF KEAKA NAPOONAOKALA KAMAI AND PRENTIS-RAY NOEAU PATAO TO THE MAUI PLANNING COMMISSION,” with completed applications for the nominees.  Resolution 26-32’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nominations of Keaka Napoonaokala Kamai and Prentis-Ray Noeau Patao to the Maui Planning Commission for terms beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

16.                     Resolution 26-33, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATION OF STANFORD KEITH LANIAS TO THE MAUI REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY,” with a completed application for the nominee.  Resolution 26-33’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nomination of Stanford Keith Lanias to the Maui Redevelopment Agency for a term beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

17.                     Resolution 26-34, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATION OF SHACKLEY RAFFETTO TO THE POLICE COMMISSION,” with a completed application for the nominees.  Resolution 26-34’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nomination of Shackley Raffetto to the Police Commission for a term beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

18.                     Resolution 26-35, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATION OF JEREMY DELOS REYES AND BRIALYN KAUIONALANI TOSHIKO ONODERA TO PUBLIC WORKS COMMISSION,” with completed applications for the nominees.  Resolution 26-35’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nominations of Jeremy Delos Reyes and Brialyn Kauionalani Toshiko Onodera to the Public Works Commission for terms beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

19.                     Resolution 26-36, entitled “ACTING THE NOMINATION OF MONICA REBELLA TO THE REAL PROPERTY TAX REVIEW BOARD,” with a completed application for the nominee.  Resolution 26-36’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nomination of Monica Rebella to the Real Property Tax Review Board for a term beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

20.                     Resolution 26-37, entitled “ACTING ON THE NOMINATION OF KAUWELA ATUA SHULTZ TO THE SALARY COMMISSION,” with a completed application for the nominee.  Resolution 26-37’s purpose is to approve or disapprove the Mayor’s nomination of Kauwela Atua Shultz to the Salary Commission for a term beginning on April 1, 2026, and expiring on March 31, 2031.

 

Status

The Council must approve or disapprove the nominations listed above by March 2, 2026, or the nominations will be deemed approved.  The Committee may consider whether to recommend adoption of the proposed resolutions, with or without revisions.  The Committee may also consider other related action.
