BILL 87 (2023), RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF PAID PARKING ZONES AND PERMIT PARKING ZONES IN WAILUKU, PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES FOR THE WAILUKU GARAGE, AND PENALTIES FOR PARKING VIOLATIONS (WAI-10)
Description
The Committee is in receipt of Bill 87 (2023), entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 10, MAUI COUNTY CODE, RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF PAID PARKING ZONES AND PERMIT PARKING ZONES IN WAILUKU, PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES FOR THE WAILUKU GARAGE, AND PENALTIES FOR PARKING VIOLATIONS.” Bill 87’s purpose is to assist the Department of Transportation in implementing a paid parking system by establishing off-street paid parking zones and permit parking zones in Wailuku, and establishing prohibited activities for the Wailuku garage. Further, Bill 87 proposes amendments to assist the department in enforcing rules and laws on the general operation of paid parking and permit parking.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of Bill 87 (2023) on first reading, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of Bill 87 (2023) and other related action.
