ESTABLISHING OWNERSHIP DURATIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SHORT-TERM RENTAL HOME PERMIT APPLICATIONS (LU-7)

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of the following:

1.                     County Communication 16-278, from the Planning Director, transmitting the planning commissions’ comments and recommendations on a proposed bill attached as Exhibit “1” to Resolution 16-94, to require that Short-Term Rental Home Permit applicants own a property for at least five years before applying for the permit, subject to stated exceptions.

2.                     Land Use Committee Report 17-39 (recommitted), recommending passage on first reading of a revised proposed bill entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 19.65.030, MAUI COUNTY CODE, TO ESTABLISH OWNERSHIP DURATIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SHORT-TERM RENTAL HOME PERMIT APPLICATIONS.”  The purpose of the revised proposed bill is to require that applicants own a property for at least five years before applying for a Short-Term Rental Home Permit, subject to stated exceptions.

 

Status

The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of the revised proposed bill on first reading, with or without further revisions.  The Committee may also consider the filing of County Communication 16-278 and Committee Report 17-39, and other related action.
