DONATION OF A PORTABLE ECO-COUNTER MOBILE MULTI COUNTING DEVICE TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS (PEA-58)
Description
The Committee is in receipt of County Communication 18-35, from the Deputy Director of Public Works, transmitting a proposed resolution entitled “AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF THE DONATION OF A PORTABLE ECO-COUNTER MOBILE MULTI COUNTING DEVICE TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS, PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 3.56, MAUI COUNTY CODE.” The purpose of the proposed resolution is to authorize acceptance of a portable eco-counter mobile MULTI counting device, valued at $8,000, from the Hawaii Public Health Institute in conjunction with the Healthy Eating + Active Living (HEAL) coalition. The device will allow the Department of Public Works to count pedestrians and bicyclists for statistical analyses of path and trail-use patterns to predict demand for future pedestrian and bicycling infrastructure.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend adoption of the proposed resolution, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of County Communication 18-35 and other related action.
