Title

BILL 17, 2023, AMENDING FISCAL YEAR 2023 BUDGET:  DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE (TEMPORARY HAZARD PAY RELATED TO COVID-19 GRIEVANCES)  (BFED-24)

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of Bill 17 (2023) entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2023 BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY OF MAUI AS IT PERTAINS TO ESTIMATED REVENUES; DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE, TOTAL OPERATING APPROPRIATIONS; TOTAL APPROPRIATIONS (OPERATING AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS).”  Bill 17’s purpose is to amend the Fiscal Year 2023 Budget by: 1) increasing Carryover/Savings from the General Fund by $7,000,000; 2) amending Section 3.B.5.g.(1)., Department of Finance, Countywide Costs, Temporary Hazard Pay related to COVID-19 Grievances by increasing Category A (Salaries) and Total Appropriations by $7,000,000; and 3) adjusting the totals accordingly.  The additional funds would provide for a portion of the expenditures required under the arbitration decision involving temporary hazard pay for Hawaii Government Employees Association members.

 

Status

The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of Bill 17 (2023) on first reading, with or without revisions.  The Committee may also consider whether to recommend the filing of Bill 17 (2023) and other related action.
