GENERAL EXCISE TAX FUND - DEPARTMENT OF HAWAIIAN HOME LANDS (BFED-21(13))
Description
Under Rule 7(B) of the Rules of the Council, the Committee intends to discuss matters relating to creating a fund entitled “general excise tax fund - Department of Hawaiian Home Lands” to serve as the exclusive depository of 20 percent of the funds derived from the general excise and use tax surcharge. The fund would be used for projects that directly support Department of Hawaiian Home Lands homestead development. The Committee’s discussion may include Bill 111 (2023), entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 3.100, MAUI COUNTY CODE, RELATING TO GENERAL EXCISE AND USE TAX SURCHARGE.” Bill 111 (2023) passed first reading at the Council’s meeting of November 3, 2023, and remains with the Council for consideration of passage on second and final reading.

The Committee may discuss matters relating to creating a fund entitled “general excise tax fund - Department of Hawaiian Home Lands,” including Bill 111 (2023), and other related matters. No legislative action will be taken.
