LANDSCAPE PLANTING AND BEAUTIFICATION  (BF-109)

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of the following:

1.                     County Communication 17-444, from the Budget Director, transmitting the following:

a.                     A proposed bill to amend Chapters 12.24A and 18.20, Maui County Code, to ensure that landscape planting and beautification requirements are administered lawfully by the appropriate agency.

b.                     A proposed bill to amend the Fiscal Year 2018 Budget by 1) amending Section 3.B.10.b., Department of Parks and Recreation, Parks Program, by decreasing Category A (Salaries) by $39,004, decreasing Category B (Operations) by $1,490, adjusting the total accordingly, and decreasing equivalent personnel by 1.0; and 2) amending Section 3.B.15.c., Department of Public Works, Special Maintenance Program - General Fund, by increasing Category A (Salaries) by $39,004, increasing Category B (Operations) by $1,490, adjusting the total accordingly, and increasing equivalent personnel by 1.0.

2.                     Correspondence dated January 19, 2018, from the Department of the Corporation Counsel, transmitting a revised proposed bill entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTERS 12.24A AND 18.20, MAUI COUNTY CODE, RELATING TO LANDSCAPE PLANTING AND BEAUTIFICATION.”  The revised proposed bill also amends Section 12.24A.030, Maui County Code, by adding to the Arborist Committee the responsibility to advise the County on the landscape planting plan and exceptional trees.

 

Status

The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of the revised proposed bill on first reading, with or without further revisions.  The Committee may also consider the filing of County Communication 17-444 and other related action.
