RESOLUTION 25-153, APPROVING FOR INCLUSION IN THE 2026 HAWAIʻI STATE ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES LEGISLATIVE PACKAGE A STATE BILL RELATING TO THE PSYCHOLOGY INTERJURISDICTIONAL COMPACT (GREAT-3(2))
Description
The Committee is in receipt of Resolution 25-153, entitled “APPROVING FOR INCLUSION IN THE 2026 HAWAI‘I STATE ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES LEGISLATIVE PACKAGE A STATE BILL RELATING TO THE PSYCHOLOGY INTERJURISDICTIONAL COMPACT.” Resolution 25-153’s purpose is to approve for inclusion in the Hawai‘i State Association of Counties Legislative Package a proposed State bill, attached as Exhibit “A,” entitled “A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE PSYCHOLOGY INTERJURISDICTIONAL COMPACT.” The purpose of the proposed State bill is to create a new chapter in the Hawai‘i Revised Statutes for Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact, an interstate compact to facilitate the practice of telepsychology and the temporary in-person practice of psychology across state boundaries, to authorize the state-to-state practice of qualifying psychologists and help reduce regulatory barriers by allowing more psychologists to practice in the state, thus improving access to essential mental health care.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend adoption of Resolution 25-153, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of Resolution 25-153 and other related action.
