Title

BILL 88 (2026), AMENDING THE COMPREHENSIVE ZONING ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH THE H-3 AND H-4 HOTEL DISTRICTS  (HLU-16)

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of the following:

1.                     Bill 88 (2026), entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE COMPREHENSIVE ZONING ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH THE H-3 AND H-4 HOTEL DISTRICTS.”  Bill 88’s purpose is to amend the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance to establish the H-3 and H-4 Hotel Districts, which would:

a.                     Be reserved for units or structures that had been in the A-1 and A-2 Apartment Districts, respectively, and where Transient Vacation Rentals had been permitted uses; and

b.                     Have the following permitted uses:

i.                     Any use permitted in the Residential and Apartment Districts; and

ii.                     Transient Vacation Rental uses that were legally permitted the day before the effective date of Ordinance 5909, which phased out Transient Vacation Rentals in the A-1 and A-2 Apartment Districts.

2.                     Correspondence dated May 18, 2026, from the Committee Chair, transmitting County Communication 100-26, from the Planning Director, transmitting the Department’s report, planning commissions’ recommendations, and other related documents.

 

Status

The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of Bill 88 (2026) on first reading, with or without revisions.  The Committee may also consider the filing of Bill 88 (2026) and other related action.
