MAINTENANCE OF MĀKENA-KEONE‘Ō‘IO ROAD AND ‘ĀHIHI-KĪNA‘U NATURAL AREA RESERVE  (WIT-80)

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of the following:

 

1.                     County Communication 20-121, from the Director of Public Works, transmitting a proposed bill authorizing the Mayor to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the Department of Land and Natural Resources.

2.                     Correspondence dated July 29, 2020, from the Department of Corporation Counsel, transmitting a revised proposed bill entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF LAND AND NATURAL RESOURCES, STATE OF HAWAI‘I (DLNR), RELATED TO MAINTENANCE OF MĀKENA-KEONE‘Ō‘IO ROAD AND THE ‘ĀHIHI-KĪNA‘U NATURAL AREA RESERVE.” The purpose of the revised proposed bill is to authorize the Mayor to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the Department of Land and Natural Resources, State of Hawaii, to provide for surface maintenance of a portion of Mākena-Keone‘ō‘io Road that runs through the ‘Āhihi-Kīna‘u Natural Area Reserve.

 

Status

The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of the revised proposed bill on first reading, with or without additional revisions.  The Committee may also consider the filing of County Communication 20-121 and other related action.
