RESOLUTION 23-205, RELATING TO SPECIAL COUNSEL AUTHORIZATION:  ALEXA JACOBS V. CLIFTON PERREIRA, ET AL., CIVIL 2CCV-23-0000185 (GREAT-11(29))

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of the following:

1.                     Resolution 23-205, entitled “AUTHORIZING THE EMPLOYMENT OF SPECIAL COUNSEL ES&A, INC., A LAW CORPORATION IN ALEXA JACOBS vs. CLIFTON PERREIRA, ET AL., CIVIL NO.:  2CCV-23-0000185.”  Resolution 23-205’s purpose is to authorize the retention of ES&A, Inc. as special counsel to represent Clifton Perreira, Jeremy Pallone-De La Torre, Andrew Cabral, and Nola Wada in the case of Alexa Jacobs v. Clifton Perreira, et al., Case 2CCV-23-0000185, as described in the resolution.

2.                     Correspondence dated September 14, 2023, from the Department of the Corporation Counsel, with a copy of the claim.

 

Status

The Committee may consider whether to recommend adoption of Resolution 23-205, with or without revisions.  The Committee may also consider the filing of Resolution 23-205 and other related action.

 

Note

With reference to this agenda item, one or more executive meetings are anticipated in accordance with Section 92-5(a)(4), Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes, to consult with legal counsel on questions and issues pertaining to the powers, duties, privileges, immunities, and liabilities of the County, the Council, and the Committee; and Section 92-5(a)(8), Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes, to deliberate or make a decision upon a matter that requires the consideration of information that must be kept confidential pursuant to a State or Federal law, or a court order.
