Description
The Committee is in receipt of Resolution 23-173, entitled “APPROVING FOR INCLUSION IN THE 2024 MAUI COUNTY COUNCIL LEGISLATIVE PACKAGE A STATE BILL TO ESTABLISH PAID FAMILY LEAVE FOR STATE AND COUNTY EMPLOYEES.” Resolution 23-173’s purpose is to approve for inclusion in the 2024 Maui County Council Legislative Package a proposed State bill, attached as Exhibit “A,” entitled “A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO FAMILY LEAVE.” The purpose of the proposed State bill is to establish paid parental and family leave so State and County employees can access leave benefits during times when they need to provide care for a family member.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend adoption of Resolution 23-173, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of Resolution 23-173 and other related action.
