Title: Recommending the following: 1. FIRST READING of Bill 37, CD1 (2025), to amend the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget to reflect the transfer of $25,000,000 from the General Excise Tax Fund to the Water Fund-Restricted for the following projects: $10,000,000 for Water Supply Infrastructure Repairs and Replacements in wildfire-impacted areas (GET Fund), $10,000,000 for Integration of Public and Private Water Systems (GET Fund), and $5,000,000 for Kamole Water Treatment Plant Filter Replacement (GET Fund); and 2. FIRST READING of Bill 38 (2024), to amend Chapter 3.100, Maui County Code, to: a. Clarify that 80 percent of all funds derived from the County's General Excise and Use Tax Surcharge will be deposited into the General Excise Tax Fund and 20 percent will be deposited into the General Excise Tax Fund - Department of Hawaiian Home Lands; and b. Provide for funding for water-related projects from either fund to be transferred to the Department of Water Supply for the duration of the proje...

Recommending the following:

 

1.                     FIRST READING of Bill 37, CD1 (2025), to amend the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget to reflect the transfer of  $25,000,000 from the General Excise Tax Fund to the Water Fund-Restricted for the following projects:  $10,000,000 for Water Supply Infrastructure Repairs and Replacements in wildfire-impacted areas (GET Fund), $10,000,000 for Integration of Public and Private Water Systems (GET Fund), and $5,000,000 for Kamole Water Treatment Plant Filter Replacement (GET Fund); and

 

2.                     FIRST READING of Bill 38 (2024), to amend Chapter 3.100, Maui County Code, to:

a.  Clarify that 80 percent of all funds derived from the County’s General Excise and Use Tax Surcharge will be deposited into the General Excise Tax Fund and 20 percent will be deposited into the General Excise Tax Fund - Department of Hawaiian Home Lands; and

b.  Provide for funding for water-related projects from either fund to be transferred to the Department of Water Supply for the duration of the project and for remaining funds to be re-deposited in the appropriate fund at the conclusion of the project.
