APPOINTMENT AND REMOVAL OF ADMINISTRATIVE HEADS OF DEPARTMENTS (RESOLUTION 24-10, RELATING TO THE APPOINTMENT OF KATE BLYSTONE AS PLANNING DIRECTOR) (GREAT-1(6))
Description
The Committee is in receipt of Resolution 24-10, entitled “APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT OF KATE BLYSTONE AS THE PLANNING DIRECTOR.” Resolution 24-10’s purpose is to approve the appointment of Kate Blystone as the Planning Director, under Sections 6-2(5) and 8-8.2 of the Revised Charter of the County of Maui (1983), as amended.
Status
The Council must approve or disapprove the appointment by March 25, 2024, or the appointment will be deemed approved. The Committee may consider whether to recommend adoption of Resolution 24-10 to approve the appointment, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider whether to revise Resolution 24-10 to disapprove the appointment, and other related action.

With reference to this agenda item, one or more executive meetings are anticipated under Section 92-5(a)(2), Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes, to consider the hire, evaluation, dismissal, or discipline of officers or employees.
