Description
Under Rule 7(B) of the Rules of the Council, the Committee intends to receive updates on a Kalaupapa Memorial Monument, including the funding, purpose, and vision for the monument, current status, and estimated construction timeline.
Status
The Committee may receive updates and discuss matters relating to a Kalaupapa Memorial Monument from:
• Valerie Monson, Executive Director, Ka ‘Ohana o Kalaupapa;
• Nancy Holman, Superintendent of the Kalaupapa National Historical Park under the National Park Service;
• Nancy McPherson, Planner and Community Liaison, Planning Office, Department of Hawaiian Home Lands;
• Debbie Morikawa, Deputy Director, Health Resources, State Department of Health;
• Dr. Diana Felton, Chief, Nursing Division, Communicable Disease and Public Health;
• Baron Chan, Chief, and Michael Casey, Planner, for the Hansen’s Disease Branch, Communicable Disease and Public Health Nursing Division, State Department of Health; and
• Representatives from the Department of Management.
The Committee may also discuss other related matters. No legislative action will be taken.
