RESOLUTION 24-99, RELATING TO AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE 8 OF THE REVISED CHARTER OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI (1983), AS AMENDED, TO MAKE THE SALARY COMMISSION’S AUTHORITY CONSISTENT WITH THE CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF HAWAIʻI (GREAT-21(4))
Description
The Committee is in receipt of Resolution 24-99, entitled “PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE 8 OF THE REVISED CHARTER OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI (1983), AS AMENDED, TO MAKE THE SALARY COMMISSION’S AUTHORITY CONSISTENT WITH THE CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF HAWAIʻI.” Resolution 24-99’s purpose is to place on the next General Election ballot the question of whether the Revised Charter of the County of Maui (1983), as amended, should be amended, effective July 1, 2025, to allow the Salary Commission to determine the salaries, rather than the compensation, of elected officials and appointed directors and deputy directors of all departments of the county, consistent with the Constitution of the State of Hawai‘i.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend adoption of Resolution 24-99, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of Resolution 24-99 and other related action.
