RESOLUTION 24-100, PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT ON USES OF THE OPEN SPACE, NATURAL RESOURCES, CULTURAL RESOURCES, AND SCENIC VIEWS PRESERVATION FUND (GREAT-10(2))
Description
The Committee is in receipt of Resolution 24-100, entitled “PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE 9 OF THE REVISED CHARTER OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI (1983), AS AMENDED, RELATING TO USES OF THE OPEN SPACE, NATURAL RESOURCES, CULTURAL RESOURCES, AND SCENIC VIEWS PRESERVATION FUND.” Resolution 24-100’s purpose is to place on the next General Election ballot the question of whether the Revised Charter of the County of Maui (1983), as amended, should be amended, effective July 1, 2025, to minimize wildfire risk by authorizing the use of the Open Space, Natural Resources, Cultural Resources, and Scenic Views Preservation Fund for the regular removal and disposal of fuel hazards.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of Resolution 24-100 on first reading, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of Resolution 24-100 and other related action.
