BILL 100 (2024), RELATING TO COMPOSTING IN THE AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT (ADEPT-15)
Description
The Committee is in receipt of the following:
1. Bill 100 (2024), entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 19.30A.050, MAUI COUNTY CODE, RELATING TO COMPOSTING IN THE AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT.” Bill 100’s purpose is to permit the use of composting and co-composting operations in the County’s Agricultural District, subject to conditions established in chapter 205, Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes.
2. Correspondence dated July 19, 2024, from the Committee Chair, transmitting County Communication 84-24, from the Planning Director, with the Department of Planning’s suggested revisions and planning commissions’ recommendations, as noted: (1) to permit composting and co-composting as an accessory use in the Agricultural District; and (2) to authorize composting and co-composting as a special use in the Agricultural District when such operations are the principal use on the property.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of Bill 100 (2024) on first reading, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of Bill 100 (2024), and other related action.
