Description
The Committee is in receipt of Bill 117 (2022), entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII FOR THE PROVISION OF HAWAIIAN LANGUAGE AND HAWAIIAN STUDIES WORKSHOPS FOR EMPLOYEES OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI.” Bill 117 (2022)’s purpose is to authorize the County to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the University of Hawaiʻi to provide workshops for County employees to create a better, more inclusive, and complete understanding of Maui’s history through a Hawaiian lens.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of Bill 117 (2022) on first reading, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of Bill 117 (2022) and other related action.
