Title

RESOLUTION 26-38, APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT OF JACALYN M.C. TAKAKURA AS DIRECTOR OF PLANNING  (GREAT-1(1))

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of the following:

1.                     Resolution 26-38, entitled “APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT OF JACALYN M. C. TAKAKURA AS DIRECTOR OF PLANNING.”  Resolution 26-38’s purpose is to approve the appointment of Jacalyn M. C. Takakura as Director of Planning, effective February 1, 2026, in accordance with Section 8-8.2 of the Revised Charter of the County of Maui (1983), as amended.

2.                     Correspondence dated January 30, 2026, from the Office of the Mayor, notifying the Council of the Mayor’s appointment of Jacalyn M. C. Takakura as Director of Planning.

 

Status

The Committee must approve or disapprove the appointment by March 31, 2026, or the appointment will be deemed approved.  The Committee may consider whether to recommend adoption of Resolution 26-38 to approve the appointment, with or without revisions.  The Committee may also consider whether to revise Resolution 26-38 to disapprove the appointment, and other related action.

 

Note

With reference to this agenda item, one or more executive meetings are anticipated in accordance with Section 92-5(a)(2), Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes, to consider the hire, evaluation, dismissal, or discipline of officers or employees; and Section 92-5(a)(4), Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes, to consult with legal counsel on questions and issues pertaining to the powers, duties, privileges, immunities, and liabilities of the County, the Council, and the Committee.
