BILL 140 (2024), AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH 15TH SPACE SURVEILLANCE SQUADRON, AIR FORCE MAUI OPTICAL & SUPERCOMPUTING, AND AIR FORCE RESEARCH LABORATORY FOR FIRE AND EMERGENCY/NON-EMERGENCY SERVICES  (BFED-105)

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of Bill 140 (2024), entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE 15TH SPACE SURVEILLANCE SQUADRON, AIR FORCE MAUI OPTICAL & SUPERCOMPUTING, AND AIR FORCE RESEARCH LABORATORY FOR FIRE AND EMERGENCY/NON-EMERGENCY SERVICES.”  Bill 140’s purpose is to authorize the Mayor to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the 15th Space Surveillance Squadron, Air Force Maui Optical & Supercomputing, and Air Force Research Laboratory to detail the firefighting, emergency and non-emergency services, and hazardous materials incident response offered by the Department of Fire and Public Safety in protection of specified military facilities.

 

Status

The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of Bill 140 (2024) on first reading, with or without revisions.  The Committee may also consider the filing of Bill 140 (2024) and other related action.
