BILL 84 (2026), AMENDING SECTION 19.64.030, MAUI COUNTY CODE, ON BED AND BREAKFAST HOMES ON MOLOKAI (HLU-13)
Description
The Committee is in receipt of the following:
1. Bill 84 (2026), entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 19.64.030, MAUI COUNTY CODE, ON BED AND BREAKFAST HOMES ON MOLOKAI.” Bill 84’s purpose is to:
a. Set a cap of five for the number of Bed and Breakfast Homes on Molokai and specify the locations where the Bed and Breakfast Homes may occur; and
b. Restrict the proximity of one Bed and Breakfast Home to another on Molokai to avoid the potential for Bed and Breakfast Homes to cluster and change a neighborhood's character.
2. Correspondence dated May 4, 2026, from the Committee Chair, transmitting County Communication 68-26, from the Acting Planning Director, transmitting the Department’s report, Molokai Planning Commission’s recommendations, and other related documents.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of Bill 84 (2026) on first reading, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of Bill 84 (2026) and other related action.
