RESOLUTION 25-216, PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT ON STANDARDIZING DEADLINES RELATED TO VOTER INITIATIVE, RECALL, AND CHARTER AMENDMENTS (GREAT-10(4))
Description
The Committee is in receipt of Resolution 25-216, entitled “PROPOSING AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI (1983), AS AMENDED, RELATED TO STANDARDIZING DEADLINES REGARDING VOTER INITIATIVE, RECALL, AND CHARTER AMENDMENT.” Resolution 25-216’s purpose is to place on the next General Election ballot the question of whether the Revised Charter of the County of Maui (1983), as amended, should be amended, effective January 1, 2027, to standardize the deadlines related to the Office of the County Clerk’s processing of petitions on voter initiative, recall of elected officers or board and commission members, and charter amendments.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of Resolution 25-216 on first reading, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of Resolution 25-216 and other related action.
