Description
The Committee is in receipt of Bill 113 (2026), entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A CHAPTER 8.38, MAUI COUNTY CODE, ON THE DISCLOSURE, SALE, AND COMMERCIAL USE OF LICENSE PLATE READER DATA.” Bill 113’s purpose is to: 1) prohibit the sale and commercial use of automated license plate reader data; and 2) require that County contracts for automated license plate reader systems and services protect that data from use by a vendor for a purpose other than the performance of the contract.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of Bill 113 (2026) on first reading, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of Bill 113 (2026) and other related action.
