BILL 101 (2026), ON TAXICAB BAGGAGE AND EQUIPMENT CHARGES (BFED-64)
Description
The Committee is in receipt of Bill 101 (2026), entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 5.16, MAUI COUNTY CODE, ON TAXICAB BAGGAGE AND EQUIPMENT CHARGES.” Bill 101’s purpose is to update taxicab baggage and equipment charges by:
1. Increasing the charge that may be added for equipment and baggage handled by the driver; and
2. Authorizing a $10 charge for each transported oversized baggage, golf club bag, or item weighing more than 50 pounds, in addition to large pet crates, bicycles, and surfboards.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of Bill 101 (2026) on first reading, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of Bill 101 (2026) and other related action.
