Title

BILL 119 (2025), PENALTIES FOR PROHIBITED NOISE VIOLATIONS  (WASSP-9)

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of the following:

1.                     Bill 119 (2025), entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 9.36.040, MAUI COUNTY CODE, ON PENALTIES FOR PROHIBITED NOISE VIOLATIONS.”  Bill 119’s purpose is to amend Section 9.36.040, Maui County Code, to increase fines and establish penalties including possible forfeiture of sound amplification systems for prohibited vehicle noise violations.

2.                     An Amendment Summary Form dated May 11, 2026, from the Committee Chair, with a proposed CD1 version of Bill 119 (2025) and a marked-up copy reflecting the proposed amendments.  The proposed CD1 version increases the fines for the first and second offenses and removes the forfeiture penalty from the third offense.

 

Status

The Committee may consider whether to recommend the passage of Bill 119 (2025) on first reading, with or without revisions.  The Committee may also consider the filing of Bill 119 (2025) and other related action.
