Title

BILL 21 (2023), RELATING TO CONDITIONAL ZONING FOR EMERGENCY AIRSTRIP OPERATIONS AT KAPALUA AIRPORT  (DRIP-3)

Description

The Committee is in receipt of the following:

1.                     Bill 21 (2023), entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE 2924 (CONDITIONAL ZONING) FOR EMERGENCY AIRSTRIP OPERATIONS AT KAPALUA AIRPORT.”  Bill 21’s purpose is to expand the hours of airstrip operations at Kapalua Airport for emergency airstrip operations only by amending the property’s Conditions of Zoning under Section 19.510.050, Maui County Code.

2.                     An Amendment Summary Form, dated August 1, 2024, from the Committee Chair, with a proposed CD1 version of Bill 21 (2023).  The proposed CD1 version clarifies that the State Department of Transportation is not responsible for the funding of the installation of runway lights and incorporates nonsubstantive revisions for style, clarity, and consistency.

Status

The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of the proposed CD1 version of Bill 21 (2023) on first reading, with or without revisions.  The Committee may also consider the filing of Bill 21 (2023) and other related action.
