Description
The Committee is in receipt of the following:
1. Bill 82 (2023), entitled "A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 4405 (2017) RELATING TO GRANTING HO?OKAHI PALAMA ALI?I, LLC A CONDITIONAL PERMIT TO CONDUCT LIMITED SPECIAL EVENTS, HISTORICAL AND BOTANICAL TOURS, PHOTO SHOOTS, WORKSHOPS, RETREATS, WELLNESS AND EXERCISE CLASSES, AND TO ALLOW A BRIDAL LOUNGE AND EVENT PREPARATION SPACE IN AN EXISTING AGRICULTURAL BUILDING WITHIN THE COUNTY AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT, FOR PROPERTY SITUATED AT 250 HAIKU ROAD AND IDENTIFIED AS TAX MAP KEY NUMBER (2) 2-7-003:006, HAIKU, MAUI, HAWAII." Bill 82's purpose is to amend Ordinance 4405 (2017) to grant a five-year extension of the Conditional Permit granted to Ho?okahi Palama Ali?i, LLC, to conduct limited special events within the County Agricultural District and require final inspections of all building and electrical permits for after-the-fact structures before operating.
2. Correspondence dated August 15, 2023, from the Planning Director, transmitting the application summary, the Maui Planning Commission's recommendations, and the Commission's March 14, 2023, meeting minutes.
3. Correspondence dated October 30, 2023, from the Department of the Corporation Counsel, transmitting a proposed CD1 version of Bill 82 (2023), entitled "A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 4405, GRANTING HO?OKAHI PALAMA ALI?I, LLC A CONDITIONAL PERMIT TO CONDUCT LIMITED SPECIAL EVENTS, HISTORICAL AND BOTANICAL TOURS, PHOTO SHOOTS, WORKSHOPS, RETREATS, AND WELLNESS AND EXERCISE CLASSES, AND TO ALLOW A BRIDAL LOUNGE AND EVENT PREPARATION SPACE WITHIN THE COUNTY AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT, FOR PROPERTY SITUATED AT 250 HAIKU ROAD, HAIKU, MAUI, HAWAII." The proposed CD1 version of Bill 82 (2023) incorporates non-substantive revisions.
