Title

AMENDING TITLE 3, MAUI COUNTY CODE, TO ESTABLISH THE SPECIAL MANAGEMENT AREA REVOLVING FUND  (PC-13)

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of the following:

1.                     County Communication 17-294, from Councilmember Elle Cochran, transmitting a proposed bill to establish a special management area revolving fund for the deposit of all civil fines collected pursuant to Chapter 205A, Hawaii Revised Statutes.  The funds deposited shall be used for: 1) enforcement personnel; 2) acquisition of land or easements to increase beach access in relation to the violation; and 3) master planning and implementation relating to coastal realignment.

2.                     Correspondence dated August 16, 2018, from the Planning Director, transmitting comments on and suggested revisions to the proposed bill establishing the special management area revolving fund.

3. Correspondence dated August 30, 2018, to the Department of the Corporation Counsel, transmitting a revised proposed bill entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH THE SPECIAL MANAGEMENT AREA REVOLVING FUND.”  The revised proposed bill incorporates the revisions proposed by the Planning Director.                          

 

Status

The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of the revised proposed bill on first reading, with or without further revisions.  The Committee may also consider the filing of County Communication 17-294 and other related action.
