Description

The Committee is in receipt of Bill 89 (2023), entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, PACIFIC ISLANDS WATER SCIENCE CENTER, UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR (COOPERATIVE WATER-RESOURCE MONITORING PROGRAM).”  Bill 89’s purpose is to authorize the Mayor to enter into a Joint Funding Agreement with the United States Geological Survey, Pacific Islands Water Science Center, United States Department of the Interior (USGS) for the Department of Water Supply to continue its cooperative water-resource monitoring program.  The Agreement period is from October 1, 2023, to September 30, 2024, and the total cost of the Agreement is $247,640 of which $212,215 would be contributed by the County and $35,425 would be contributed by the USGS.

 

Status

The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of Bill 89 (2023) on first reading, with or without revisions.  The Committee may also consider the filing of Bill 89 (2023) and other related action.
