COMMUNITY SOCIAL SERVICES AVAILABLE TO THOSE AFFECTED BY THE AUGUST 2023 FIRES ON MAUI ISLAND  (WASSP-1(6)) 

 

Description

Under Rule 7(B) of the Rules of the Council, the Committee intends to receive comments and discuss matters relating to community social services available to those affected by the August 2023 fires on Maui Island.

 

Status

The Committee may receive comments relating to available behavioral health services and the $17,300,000 in funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration awarded to the State Department of Health for residents affected by the August 2023 fires on Maui Island, from the following panelists:

1.                     Dorene Pacheco, Maui County Services Director, Mental Health Kōkua;

2.                     Greg Payton, Company Executive Officer, Mental Health Kōkua;

3.                     Dr. Courtenay Matsu, Acting Administrator for Adult Mental Health, State Department of Health;

4.                     Joy Kobayashi, Executive Assistant, State Department of Health;

5.                     John Oliver, Adult Mental Health Branch Manager, Maui, State Department of Health; and

6.                     Dr. Gerard Livaudais, MD, MPH, FACP, Consultant, Itzamna Healthcare Consulting LLC.

The Committee may also discuss other related matters.  No legislative action will be taken.
