Title

BILL 146 (2024), AMENDING THE WATER CODE ON THE METHODOLOGY FOR CALCULATING DOMESTIC WATER DEMAND (WAI-33)

Description

The Committee is in receipt of the following:

1.                     Bill 146 (2024), entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE WATER CODE ON THE METHODOLOGY FOR CALCULATING DOMESTIC WATER DEMAND.”  Bill 146’s purpose is to require the Department of Water Supply to use methods based on projected gallons per day usage, rather than water fixture counts, in calculating domestic water demand and development impact fees.

2.                     An Amendment Summary Form dated November 27, 2024, from the Committee Chair, with a proposed CD1 version of Bill 146 (2024), entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE WATER CODE ON THE METHODOLOGY FOR CALCULATING DOMESTIC WATER DEMAND.”  The proposed CD1 version amends Bill 146 by:  1) replacing the word “cap” with the phrase “maximum capacity of” and requiring the Department of Water Supply to establish a maximum capacity of domestic water use; and 2) changing the bill’s effective date to July 1, 2025.

Status
