TRANSITIONING KALAWAO COUNTY TO MAUI COUNTY (KAʻĀ-1(2))

 

Description

Under Rule 7(B) of the Rules of the Council, the Committee intends to discuss matters relating to transitioning Kalawao County to Maui County, including State Senate Bill 1432 (2025) and Resolution 21-190, including anticipated operational responsibilities and potential County costs.

 

Status

The Committee may receive presentations and discuss matters relating to transitioning Kalawao County to Maui County, including State Senate Bill 1432 (2025), Resolution 21-190, anticipated operational responsibilities, potential County costs, and other related matters, from:

                     Nancy Holman, Superintendent of the Kalaupapa National Historical Park under the National Park Service;

                     Nancy McPherson, Planner and Community Liaison, Planning Office, Department of Hawaiian Home Lands;

                     Debbie Morikawa, Deputy Director, Health Resources, State Department of Health;

                     Dr. Diana Felton, Chief, Nursing Division, Communicable Disease and Public Health;

                     Baron Chan, Chief, and Michael Casey, Planner, for the Hansens Disease Branch, Communicable Disease and Public Health Nursing Division, State Department of Health; and

                     Representatives from the Department of Management.

The Committee may also discuss other related matters.  No legislative action will be taken.
