CONCESSIONS AND SPONSORSHIPS IN COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES (BF-129)
Description
The Committee is in receipt of the following:
1. County Communication 16-273, from Councilmember Riki Hokama, transmitting a proposed bill to establish a policy for the Department of Parks and Recreation relating to awarding and administering of concessions and sponsorships, including contracts for pouring rights, advertising, vending machines, and parking; and the establishment of a fund for the deposit of all funds received from concessions and sponsorships.
2. Correspondence dated March 17, 2017, from the Department of the Corporation Counsel, transmitting a revised proposed bill entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO CONCESSIONS AND SPONSORSHIPS IN COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATIONAL FACILITIES.” The purposes of the revised proposed bill are to: 1) establish a policy for the Department of Parks and Recreation relating to awarding and administering of concessions, sponsorships, and donations; and the establishment of a fund for the deposit and expenditure of all funds received from concessions, sponsorships, and donations; 2) require Council approval by resolution of certain sponsorship agreements and 3) allow the Director of Finance, in consultation with the Director of Parks and Recreation, to designate those parks and facilities suitable for concession and sponsorship agreements.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of the revised proposed bill on first reading, with or without further revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of County Communication 16-273 and other related action.
