AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL  (PEA-45)

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of the following:

1.                     County Communication 17-400, from the Chief of Police, transmitting a proposed bill authorizing the County to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General to receive excess personal property from the Department of Defense through the Law Enforcement Support Office Program.

2.                     Correspondence dated November 7, 2017, from the Department of the Corporation Counsel, transmitting a revised proposed bill entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI THROUGH THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII, DEPARTMENT OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL.”  The revision to the proposed bill includes a review of the agreement every five years, along with lists of Department of Defense property received by the Department of Police under the Law Enforcement Support Office Program, transmitted to the Council annually.

 

Status

The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of the revised proposed bill on first reading, with or without revisions.  The Committee may also consider the filing of County Communication 17-400 and other related action.
