SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT FUND AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND SUSTAINABILITY FUND (BF-111)
Description
The Committee is in receipt of the following:
1. County Communication 17-470, from the Director of Environmental Management, transmitting the following:
a. A proposed bill to create a new Chapter 3.55, Maui County Code, establishing an Environmental Protection and Sustainability Fund.
b. A proposed bill to amend Chapter 3.54, Maui County Code, relating to the Solid Waste Management Fund by deleting the purposes of the fund relating to environmental protection and sustainability.
2. Correspondence dated January 23, 2018, from the Department of the Corporation Counsel, transmitting a revised proposed bill entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A NEW CHAPTER 3.55, MAUI COUNTY CODE, RELATING TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND SUSTAINABILITY FUND, AND AMENDING CHAPTER 3.54, MAUI COUNTY CODE, RELATING TO THE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT FUND.” The purpose of the revised proposed bill is to establish the Environmental Protection and Sustainability Fund and amend the Solid Waste Management Fund accordingly.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of the revised proposed bill as noted in item 2 above on first reading, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of County Communication 17-470 and other related action.
