COUNTYWIDE CULTURAL AND EDUCATION GRANT FUNDING (EDB-40)
Description
The Committee is in receipt of the following:
1. Miscellaneous Communication, dated May 21, 2019, from the County Clerk, reporting that the Council referred the matter relating to countywide cultural and education grant funding, including the selection process for grantees.
2. Correspondence dated January 31, 2020, from the Committee Chair, transmitting a proposed resolution entitled “AUTHORIZING THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND BUDGET COMMITTEE TO CONDUCT A FORMAL INVESTIGATION OF THE USE OF THE FUNDS GRANTED TO THE KAUPO COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS AT THE OLD KAUPO SCHOOL PROPERTY.” The purpose of the proposed resolution is to authorize the Economic Development and Budget Committee to conduct a formal investigation of the use of the funds granted to the Kaupo Community Association for the construction of infrastructure improvements at the Old Kaupo School property, in accordance with Section 3-6(3) of the Revised Charter of the County of Maui, as amended.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend adoption of the proposed resolution, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider whether to recommend the filing of the Miscellaneous Communication and other related action.
