SEA-LEVEL RISE, SHORELINE EROSION, AND MANAGED RETREAT  (CAR-9)

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of County Communication 20-24, from Council Chair Kelly Takaya King, relating to sea-level rise, shoreline erosion, and managed retreat.

 

Status

The Committee may receive presentations from representatives of Wastewater Alternatives & Initiatives; Dr. Roger Babcock, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa; and Travis Liggett, President of Reef Power LLC, relating to sea-level rise and how wastewater services and treatment can be modified in Maui County to facilitate managed retreat.  The Committee may also hear from the Department of Environmental Management and the Office of the Mayor and discuss related matters.  No legislative action will be taken.
