LA‘AKEA VILLAGE (PAIA)  (HFC-74)

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of the following:

1.                     County Communication 20-483, from Councilmember Riki Hokama, relating to Laʻakea Village, a nonprofit residential and vocational community for autistic and intellectually/developmentally disabled adults, located in Paia, Maui, Hawaii.

2.                     Correspondence dated October 2, 2020, from Committee Chair Riki Hokama, transmitting a copy of Resolution 05-137, entitled “AUTHORIZING A GRANT OF A LEASE TO OCCUPY COUNTY REAL PROPERTY TO THE LA΄A KEA FOUNDATION.”

3.                     Correspondence dated September 30, 2020, from Committee Chair Riki Hokama, transmitting testimony received from the Friends for Laʻakea, and Susan Graham, on behalf of the Laʻakea Village Board of Trustees.

4.                     Correspondence dated October 12, 2020, from the Director of Housing and Human Concerns, transmitting a copy of the lease for County Property between the County of Maui and the La‘a Kea Foundation.

 

Status

The Committee may discuss La‘a Kea Foundation’s compliance with its lease requirements with the County and related matters.  The Committee may also consider the filing of County Communication 20-483 and other related action.
