OVERVIEW OF THE APPOINTMENT PROCESS TO THE CHARTER COMMISSION (GREAT-18(1))
Description
In accordance with Rule 7(B) of the Rules of the Council, the Committee intends to receive an overview of the appointment process to the Charter Commission which is set up every 10 years to review the operation of County government, including proposed amendments to the Maui County Charter. Effective January 2, 2021, the Council is authorized to appoint nine members, and the Mayor to appoint two members, of the 11-member Charter Commission, for terms beginning March 1, 2021.
Status
The Committee may discuss the appointment process to the Charter Commission. No legislative action will be taken.
