AMENDING CHAPTER 2.31, MAUI COUNTY CODE, RELATING TO THE COMMISSION ON HEALING SOLUTIONS FOR HOMELESSNESS  (GREAT-32)

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of County Communication 21-152, from Council Vice-Chair Keani Rawlins-Fernandez, transmitting a proposed bill entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE COMMISSION ON HEALING SOLUTIONS FOR HOMELESSNESS.”  The purpose of the proposed bill is to amend Chapter 2.31, Maui County Code, to require:  (1) each of the nine members appointed by the Council to demonstrate experience relevant to the commission to one of the nine council residency areas; (2) one member must be a fulltime resident of Molokai, one member must be a fulltime resident of Lanai, and one member must be a fulltime resident of East Maui; and (3) the commission elect a chair and vice-chair from its members, such that until the chair is selected, the Director of Housing and Human Concerns must preside, but without a vote.

 

Status

The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of the proposed bill on first reading, with or without revisions.  The Committee may also consider the filing of County Communication 21-152 and other related action.
