Title

INTEGRATED PEST AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT ON COUNTY PROPERTY  (CARE-23)

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of the following:

1. County Communication 16-37, from Councilmember Elle Cochran, referring the matter of integrated pest and environmental management on County property.

2. Correspondence dated February 4, 2021, from Councilmember Shane M. Sinenci, transmitting a proposed bill entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING CHAPTER 2.50, MAUI COUNTY CODE, RELATING TO PESTICIDE AND FERTILIZER USE ON COUNTY PROPERTY.”  The purpose of the proposed bill is to exercise the County’s proprietary function, as a property owner and manager, by determining the categories of pesticide and fertilizer allowed for use on County property.

 

Status

The Committee may receive a presentation or remarks from Jay Feldman, Executive Director, Beyond Pesticides; consider whether to recommend passage of the proposed bill on first reading, with or without revisions; and filing of the correspondence.  The Committee may also discuss related matters, consider whether to recommend the filing of County Communication 16-37, and other related action.
