COOPERATIVE WATER-RESOURCE MONITORING PROGRAM (APT-31)
Description
The Committee is in receipt of County Communication 21-346, from the Director of Water Supply, transmitting a proposed bill entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, PACIFIC ISLANDS WATER SCIENCE CENTER, UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR (COOPERATIVE WATER-RESOURCE MONITORING PROGRAM).” The purpose of the proposed bill is to authorize the Mayor to enter into a Joint Funding Agreement with the U.S. Geological Survey, Pacific Islands Water Science Center, United States Department of the Interior, to continue its cooperative water-resource monitoring program during the period of October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022, at a cost to the County of $104,555.
Status
The Committee may discuss the matter and consider whether to recommend passage of the proposed bill on first reading, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of County Communication 21-346 and other related action.
