BILL 22 (2022), AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII JUDICIARY FOR A LEASE OF OFFICE SPACE AT 2103 WELLS STREET (WAILUKU)  (GREAT-51)

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of the following:

1.                     Bill 22 (2022), from the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney, entitled “A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII JUDICIARY FOR A FOUR-YEAR AND ELEVEN MONTH LEASE OF 2,070 SQUARE FEET OF OFFICE SPACE AT 2103 WELLS STREET, WAILUKU, MAUI, HAWAII 96793.”  Bill 22’s purpose is to authorize an intergovernmental agreement between the County and the State of Hawaii Judiciary for a lease of 2,070 square feet of office space located at 2103 Wells Street, Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii, for the State Judiciary’s Children’s Justice Center of Maui, which will provide services for child victims of sexual and physical abuse and child witnesses of domestic violence.  Under the lease, the State would pay the County a rental fee of $3,400 monthly for a lease term of four years and eleven months.

2.                     Correspondence from the County Clerk, dated January 21, 2022, transmitting a letter from the Prosecuting Attorney, dated January 14, 2022.

 

Status

The Committee may consider whether to recommend passage of Bill 22 (2022) on first reading, with or without revisions.  The Committee may also consider other related action.
