COUNCIL-INITIATED CHARTER AMENDMENTS (PROMOTING CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION) (GREAT-10(1))
Description
The Committee is in receipt of correspondence dated June 16, 2021, from Presiding Officer Pro Tempore Kama, transmitting a proposed resolution entitled “PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO THE REVISED CHARTER OF THE COUNTY OF MAUI (1983), AS AMENDED, RELATING TO PROMOTING CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION.” The purpose of the proposed resolution is to place on the next General Election ballot the question of whether the Revised Charter of the County of Maui (1983), as amended, should be amended, effective January 2, 2023, to establish a County policy to promote climate change adaptation, including the implementation of guidelines to allow telework and alternative work schedules for certain County employees.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend adoption of the proposed resolution, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of the correspondence and other related action.
