Description
The Committee is in receipt of correspondence dated January 30, 2023, from the Department of the Corporation Counsel, transmitting Resolution 23-81, entitled “AUTHORIZING SETTLEMENT OF CHRISTINE M. LACHANCE V. COUNTY OF MAUI, CIVIL 17-1-0428(1),” and a copy of the claim. Resolution 23-81’s purpose is to authorize settlement of the claim, filed on October 5, 2017. The claim alleges personal injury that occurred while the claimant was jogging and struck the base of a signpost that was protruding 3.5 inches out of the middle of the sidewalk near the intersection of South Kīhei Road and Auhana Road, Kīhei, Maui, Hawai‘i, on July 30, 2016.
Status
The Committee may consider whether to recommend adoption of Resolution 23-81, with or without revisions. The Committee may also consider the filing of Resolution 23-81 and other related action.
