LITIGATION MATTERS (RESOLUTION 23-82, RELATING TO SETTLEMENT AUTHORIZATION:  CHRISTOPHER SALEM V. COUNTY OF MAUI, ET AL.; CIVIL 2CCV-21-0000048(2))  (GREAT-11(8))

 

Description

The Committee is in receipt of the following:

1.                     Resolution 23-82, entitled “AUTHORIZING SETTLEMENT OF CHRISTOPHER SALEM VS. COUNTY OF MAUl, ET AL., CIVIL NO. 2CCV-21-0000048(2).”  Resolution 23-82’s purpose is to authorize settlement of the claim, filed on February 18, 2021, and amended on November 9, 2021.  The claim alleges breach of contract, tortious injury, and whistleblower protection, and seeks special, general, and punitive damages.

2.                     Correspondence dated February 3, 2023, from the Department of the Corporation Counsel, with a copy of the claim.

 

Status

The Committee may consider whether to recommend adoption of Resolution 23-82, with or without revisions.  The Committee may also consider the filing of Resolution 23-82 and other related action.

 

Note
